Chac-Mool Institute trains the best Spanish Instructors

At our Spanish School all our teachers in addition to being university educated and Spanish speakers they all have been instructed in Stephen Krashen’s Theory of Language Acquisition. Stephen Krashen is an expert in the field of linguistics, specializing in theories of language acquisition and development. Much of his research has involved the study of non-English and bilingual language acquisition.

Our Spanish instructors are also taught the Seven Intelligences enabling the instructor to identify each student’s learning ability, so that instruction may be tailored specifically to the individual.

All this and our beautiful facilities in Cuernavaca Mexico make our Spanish School the perfect setting and place to help You Learn Spanish.

Progressive Language Learning System

Progressive: relating to an educational system that allows flexibility in learning procedures, based on activities determined by the needs and capacities of the individual to learn Spanish.

Chac-Mool Institute Believes…

At Chac-Mool Spanish School we are convinced that using Sheltered Instruction and the Natural Approach are the best ways to acquire a language. This approach allows students to learn to communicate more quickly, as learning is active and interactive.
This is different from a grammar based approach to teach Spanish, where you learn not by doing, but through studying a book. We stress communication skills and conversational fluency in Spanish as opposed to strictly knowing the grammatical structure of the language. (Grammar based instruction is available for those requesting this special class).
All our teachers at Chac-Mool Spanish School have a bachelor degree, are Spanish speakers and have been specially trained in Krashen’s Theory of Language Acquisition and that of the Seven Intelegences, because we realize that each student learns in his or her own way.
The objective of our Spanish classes is for the student to develop good communication skills and improve oral production.
All students will be grouped by ability based on a brief written and oral placement test given prior to beginning class on Monday.
Students will be placed into the appropriate group of no more than 5 students.
“Language acquisition” versus “language learning” is the best way competence in a second language occurs.
The new Spanish language should be naturally acquired and not formed through mental translation from one’s first language.
A low anxiety environment, with sympathetic and motivating instuction, is essential to acquiring the target language.
Spanish teachers should not only be Spanish speakers, but masters in second language acquisition.
A program should be tailored specific to student’s interests and needs, with the flexibility to maximize and accelerate learning even when working within a group.
Personalized attention is essential in helping students achieve their language goals.
An understanding of the culture of Mexico makes it easier to acquire the new language.
Actively participating students will learn Spanish quickly. Money back guarantee.

Why is an Immersion School better than trying to learn Spanish with products such as Rosetta Stone® or Pimsleur®?

Learning a new language while everything around you is in your current language is difficult and a very slow process. Most people dedicate an hour or so a day to these language learning products and then quit because they don’t receive outside motivation or advance at a measurable speed. Learning with out a good Spanish School in Mexico is difficult. The products don’t allow you to check your progress with professional instructors, or other speakers. This interaction is very important, as is staying surrounded by the new language, like Spanish every day. While learning a new language, input from others about how you use the language (verbiage, pronunciation, vocabulary) is the most valuable tool you can have.
Chac Mool Spanish School, is dedicated to submerging all of our students in a Latin American cultural environment, and consequently, the Spanish language. To achieve this, we offer the students a program that is varied and well developed.

The central objective of our Spanish programs is that our students reach their full potential academically (comprehension, fluidity, reading and writing) and culturally as well as a greater understanding of the acceptance of other styles of life and society.

Our Spanish School´s goal is to have you communicating in Spanish. Our approach focuses on an individual’s learning ability. Courses include Spanish instruction in a small group setting, larger group activities and periodic one-on-one instruction. You may begin classes any Monday all year round and you may study Spanish for as little as one week.

The Spanish School’s facilities in Mexico are excellent; we have indoor and outdoor classrooms, a library, a beautiful, large grassy area that surrounds and a covered cafeteria.
